A Christmas Eve Surprise!
By Dave Fox
Kattina and I were debating where to go for the holidays. We considered the United States and Europe, but with inflated holiday airfares, we settled on Vietnam.
We’ve been missing our friends and family, however. And for some sick and twisted reason, Kattina is also missing cold, non-tropical weather. So on a whim a couple of weeks ago, we changed our plans. We’re flying to the US on Christmas Eve.
I’ve stayed fairly quiet about this online because… Kattina’s mom does not know we’re coming. It’s a surprise. But by the time you read this, our flight should have landed in San Francisco.
What does this mean for you? Nothing if you live in Fiji, Abu Dhabi, or Uzbekistan. But for those of you in Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, or the Washington, DC, area, I’m planning some casual Globejotting Happy Hour gatherings to get together with my readers. And you’re invited!
I’ve had this posted on a hidden page, which I’ve linked to from my newsletter, Twitter, and the Globejotting Facebook page. I’ll be scooching it over to the “Top Stories” area of the homepage as soon as time allows. Until then, however, you can read all about the happy hours at Globejotting.com/meetup. The dates for these events are:
- Bethesda, Maryland: December 29
- Seattle: January 2
- Denver: January 6
- San Francisco: January 9
If you’re in any of these areas, I’d love to meet you!
To those of you celebrating Christmas today, Merry Christmas! To those of you who don’t celebrate Christmas, Happy Monday! And to those of you who don’t believe in Mondays, may you still find some sort of peace and happiness on whatever you call today.
