Crowd Control

On the eve of the Washington State presidential caucuses, here are some Seattle statistics for you:

  • Last night, Hillary Clinton drew an estimated 5,000 people at a rally downtown.
  • Today, an estimated 3,000 people were turned away from a Barack Obama rally because the Key Arena, where he spoke, was filled to capacity with more than 18,000 people inside.
  • In the suburb of Kirkland, John Huckabee’s wife attracted around 200 people.
  • As I write this, a measely 40 or so people have appeared at a rally for John McCain.

Why so few people at the McCain rally? He’s charging $2,300 per person. The other candidates spoke for free.
