Mistaken Identity

Walking through my hotel courtyard this afternoon, I spotted a mother and her one-and-a-half-year-old son coming toward me. The boy looked mesmerized by me. He stared at me the way only a one-and-a-half-year-old can get away with. Then he pointed at me.

I smiled, and waved to him. “Hi,” I said.

A huge smile took over his face. “Papa!” he shouted.

In sheer panic, I looked at his mother. Nope. Never seen her before, I swear.

She smiled. “No, that’s not Papa,” she said to her son.

Just to be safe, I ran — very, very fast — far, far away.

hmmm sounds like Sven is not the ONLY one doing a rain-and-party dance at hanging out at the night clubs!! Ahh, the classic travel-writer-tourguide dilema!

A good thing the running happened when it did – pre your crutches! Thanks for a great read – I’ve stumbled across your blog whilst browsing for travel content which might interest other members of the trivago community and am prone to think you might be safer sharing your experiences with us on line than wandering about ;-))
