New Online Course: Deep Travel

Have Adventures No Guidebook Can Tell You About!

By Dave Fox
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

In Nepal, I’ve been invited for a private music lesson and concert in a street vendor’s shanty. In the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, I’ve taught a nomadic tribe of San Bushmen how to throw a Frisbee. And in the northern Vietnamese highlands, in the home of a Hmong family (an ethnic minority tribe in Southeast Asia), I have both eavesdropped on and participated in the most ridiculous wrong number ever dialed.

People sometimes ask me, “Why do these things always happen to you, Dave?”

It’s not luck. It’s a mindset. It’s a travel style that gets me invited into people’s lives, sending me hurling into adventurous tangents, crazy stories, and big memories. And anybody can learn to travel with this mindset and discover their own unique adventures.

I’m excited to unveil my first ever online course that’s not about writing. (But if you’re an aspiring travel writer, you’ll want to check this out!)

Deep Travel: Have Adventures No Guidebook Can Tell You About is a course on how to thrive amid culture shock, go beyond generic tourism experiences, and really connect with the cultures you visit – confidently and safely.

This course is designed for two kinds of travelers:

  1. People who are planning their first foray into an unfamiliar culture.
  2. People with international travel experience who want to dive deeper – by visiting more culturally adventurous destinations and/or seeking out richer, more intimate connections with local people as they explore the world.

If you’re already a super-experienced world traveler who knows how to entrench yourself deeply in local cultures, this course isn’t for you. It’s designed to help people become super-experienced world travelers and have extraordinary, non-touristy experiences.

With more than three and a half hours of content, it covers topics such as:

  • How to embrace culture shock and thrive outside of your cultural comfort zone.
  • How to really connect with people in the places you visit in authentic, non-touristy ways.
  • How to stay safe when seeking out cultural adventures. (Including an interview on women’s travel safety with Beth Whitman, author of Wanderlust and Lipstick: The Ultimate Guide to Women Traveling Solo.)
  • How to go beyond the limits of guidebook checklists and run-of-the-mill group tours and experience the thrills of real-world travel.
  • Suggestions for people who like the convenience of tours or cruises but still want to deviate at times from the tourist-trodden route and maximize their cultural thrills.
  • And a lot more!

As I do whenever I launch a new course, I’m offering a huge introductory discount: The list price for this course is $45, but this week, you can join for just US $10 (or the approximate equivalent in your currency).

To sweeten the deal further, if you’re one of the first 100 people to enroll, I’ll send you a coupon you can pass on to a friend to join you in the course for FREE. That’s right – two enrollments for the price of one! (And if you’re one of the first 10 or 25, there will be an extra surprise!)

If you’re interested, you can check out the first couple of lessons for free. Just follow this link for a sneak preview and to get the special $10 deal. Then, get ready to travel like you’ve never traveled before!

And hey … to celebrate the launch of the new Globejotting Travel Show on Expat Radio, from now through November 10, I’m also offering huge discounts on my two online travel writing courses:
